6. How do I copy material from sources other than the Internet Explorer browser into my Workspace?
|
You can bring material from any application into your MIXM Workspace. Follow the copying and pasting instructions given in section 2 on this Help page.
When you copy from some e-mail programs, the material is treated just as if you had copied it from the Web and thus becomes a snippet in your Workspace. When you copy from word processors, spreadsheets, or other programs (including the Netscape browser, version 4.7 and earlier), the material is treated as plain text. You will see a warning message that the information is being added to your Workspace as text.
You can bring Web information into your Workspace from browsers other than Internet Explorer, too. The AOL browser and NeoPlanet, for example, support copying in HTML format, so items that you import from these sources become snippets in your Workspace.

8. When should I save a Workspace?
|
To keep the work that you have done, you must save your Workspace. Be sure to save it every so often. You should always save a Workspace before you switch to another one and before you close MIXM or the Internet Explorer.
After you click Save, you might have to wait briefly for MIXM to complete the process, since saving pictures takes a little time. However, by saving your pictures on its server, MIXM enables you to retrieve them whenever you like, even if the pictures are no longer available on the Web itself. In other words, information on a Web site might be modified, but you will still have the original information in your saved Workspace.

To send a Workspace by e-mail, follow these steps: a. In the MIXM toolbar, click Send Workspace as E-mail.
b. Fill in the e-mail address of the recipient.

| 12. How do people collaborate on a shared Workspace? How do I release a Workspace? |
Different people can work on a shared Workspace but not at the same time. In other words, if you share a Workspace with a friend, your friend can open it and make changes as long as you are not currently working on it. If your friend tries to open the Workspace while you are working on it, your friend will not be able to make any changes. In such cases, you must "release" the Workspace to allow your friend to work on it. Follow these steps:
a. At the top of the File Bar, click Menu.
b. Choose Workspace and then Release.
Now your friend can open the shared Workspace and modify it. The next time you open the Workspace, you will see the changes that your friend made.

| 13. What is a published Workspace? How do I publish a Workspace? | When you create a Workspace that you think will interest other people, you can "publish" your Workspace in the MIXM library. Keep in mind that when you publish a Workspace, you are bound by the terms set out in the MIXM Privacy and Terms of Use statements. Please avoid offensive content and be careful not to infringe upon the legal rights of others. MIXM takes no responsibility for the content in published Workspaces.
To publish a Workspace, follow these steps:
a. In the File Bar, choose Menu.
b. Open the Workspace menu, and click Publish. The Category window opens.
c. To choose the categories in which your Workspace will be listed, click the arrow next to one of the Category boxes, and select a category from the list. Note that there are two Category boxes. You can choose one category from each box, or you can click the More arrow to select more than two categories.
