David Mardjanov is a Senior Managing Director at Ankura based in the Washington, DC office. David has 25 years of experience involving financial accounting and reporting, auditing, internal controls, root cause analysis, and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) rules and standards. He has extensive experience across the financial services industry and provides a broad range of expert and consulting services involving accounting advisory, auditor liability, and internal control-related matters.
Before joining Ankura in 2018, David was a regional associate director at the Division of Registration and Inspections of the PCAOB. While at the PCAOB, he served in various leadership roles including leader of the Banking Inspection Group responsible for executing the domestic and international bank inspections of the six largest global accounting firms; US team leader for a Big Four accounting firm responsible for leading and executing its domestic inspections and related inspection activities; and leader of the broker-dealer inspections of a Big Four accounting firm. In addition, David worked closely with the Office of the Chief Auditor and the Division of Enforcement and Investigations on a variety of matters, and was a leader of the Division of Registration and Inspections performance management process.
Before joining the PCAOB, David was an audit director at a global bank responsible for the coordination and execution of the global internal audit coverage across the finance organization, consumer banking, and corporate and investment banking. In this role, he led company-wide risk assessments, developed comprehensive risk-based audit plans, and oversaw the performance of financial, operational, compliance, and strategic change initiative audits. In addition, he served in the role of a finance officer for the consumer bank.
Before joining the global bank, David was an audit senior manager with a Big Four accounting firm. In this role, he led audit engagements for large, publicly held companies. His client portfolio consisted mainly of financial services and real estate companies. His experience also included assisting companies with business acquisitions and public offerings.
